City Views, Country Dreams

Good evening from New York.

It's been a very busy bunch of days since my last post, and I do not want more time to speed past before I show you all a rather poor photo of one of my watercolor cards...to wish each of you a Very Happy Christmas!

Work at the shop continues to be very demanding, and it's up to all of us to keep our energy levels high as we help many folks to make their various seasonal shopping decisions.  We are all beginning to truly look forward to December 25, when the shop will be closed.

I've also been doing lots of cookie baking and baked cookie giving, and enjoying getting together with various friends, opening beautiful cards from folks all over the world, and generally enjoying the spirit of this season.  Today the daylight began to increase!

May I again wish all of you a very Happy Christmas, and thank you again for all your visits to this space.

  1. Merry Christmas, Frances! This year's card is so pretty - and I have a weakness for images of teacups. What a gift you have!
I hope that once the rush is over on Saturday you will be able to snuggle into your nest, or go out with friends - whatever invites your spirit. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and look forward to more posts from NYC. You know, we are moving into our sixth year of blogging on the same wavelength!

  3. Dear, dear Frances,

Your card is beautiful! I so admire anyone with painting talent.

I am deeply grateful to have 'met' you this year. I always find your comments thoughtful and beautifully written.

I hope you find some time to relax and I would very much like to know which sort of shop you work in.

Merry, merry Christmas dear Frances all the way from France to New York.

  4. Frances, it is indeed a lovely card and most beautiful, such that it deserves a wider audience. Maybe it should be printed and turned into a card or postcard that could be sold.
    You are most talented.

I am laughing at your plea for high energy having just succumbed to everyone else's cold. I am sitting here paying bills and doing accounting work and wondering whether a glass of whisky might help to clear my head and sinuses. But, no sympathy, it will pass quickly enough. It isn't the Black Death (or at least I don't think it is).

Have a happy, peaceful and blessed Christmas.

  5. Merry Christmas Frances - loving the painting - such a pretty tea cup too.

Hope you manage to find some peace amongst all the retail fervour and enjoy yourself too xxxx

  6. What vibrant colours! I admire you, painting each one of your cards, especially as this time of year is the most tiring for retailers (as I know). Have a lovely and restful Christmas day, and put your feet up, 'Happy Holidays' to you, from rainy England!

  12. Merry Christmas, Frances, and thank you for another lovely post. The one a few days ago, with all the photos of New York's Christmas windows, etc., made me want to visit the Big Apple again. Thank you for sharing parts of your life with us in blogland.

    Happy Holidays!

  16. Beautiful, and how do you find the time for individually painted cards? The recipients are lucky individuals!

  21. A very belated thankyou for your Christmas wishes, dear Frances. I hope you had a great time and had a chance to rest for a day or two. Shops round here are open almost all year round, except for Christmas Day - only supermarkets open on Christmas Day -, it is as if people couldn't exist without buying, buying, buying.

    I don't have that problems.

Happy New Year, dear Frances, look forward to meeting up with you somewhere, some time!

  26. Your greeting card is very pretty – I am a softie for tea cups and have several. I enjoyed your walk and pictures showing us the glamorous New York windows. Now I have to look at the NY calendar to see what is coming up so I can figure out the date of our next trip to the big apple – but in the spring as it gets too cold in your lovely city! I hope you had a nice New Year and wish you a great 2012!
