City Views, Country Dreams

Good afternoon from New York.

I came home from a long walk to hear the very sad news that Prince has died.

My brother has sent me this link.  Skip the ad and do keep listening.

  1. I didn't hear about it until this afternoon and was shocked and saddened. Such a genius and good person. Much too young.

    1. Donna, I didn't want to mention this in my earlier message to you, but...yes, far too young.

  4. Thank you for sharing the link Frances. He was very original and clever and another sad loss to the creativity factor of our generation.

    1. Yup. Prince was also very good to his home town.

  5. Thanks for the reminder of that great clip of Prince. It is so sad to lose a great artist so young. But still, as this clip shows, good art survives the artist and makes the world a better place. And I loved seeing how much George Harrison's son looks like him. I was startled for a minute thinking it WAS George himself.

    1. I so agree with you, Carol, about music's lasting power and also about the startling resemblance of Harrison father and son.

  7. A great talent who was generous with his talent. I particularly recall his 80's productions and famous copyright battle, the right to his own name.

    1. I keep hearing more of his songs for the first time, and know that there are hundreds, possibly thousands in a vault. Selfishly, I am so glad to have decided to retire and have time for my own minor creative pursuits.

    1. Vicki, I think that video shows that there was a lot of love on that stage.

In the past week I've heard lots of Prince tunes that were new to me, too. xo
